The Australians visit Cregg

As mentioned by Christy below, it was a full day in Cregg on Saturday with the First Test of the Masters International Rules being held. Ireland won both the A and B game with the second leg yet to be played in Dublin next Sunday.

The Annaghdown game in Clonbur meant that the crowds were split between both venues but with the weather holding, it was a very enjoyable day for all vistors, both Irish and Australian.

Myself and John Killilea took pictures on the day and mine can be found HERE. There are 191 in total so hope you have a fast link. John's pictures will follow. Well done to all that organised the event.

Senior Football League 1B
Clonbur 0-06 Annaghdown 4-08
Played in Clonbur yesterday, Annaghdown had too more class for the bottom of the table team. Annaghdown found the going hard in the first 20mins leading 3pts to 2pts but then a very good build up resulted in Brendan Dooley hitting the net. Frankie Burke did like wise just before half time leaving the score @ the break Annaghdown 2-4 Clonbur 4pts. The second was poor enough with Annaghdown waiting 12mins before Mike Melia kicked a point. Soon afterwords Niall Coleman was switched to full forward and he soon hit the net also. Frankie Burke added the icing with another goal before the end. Our last game in the group is at home to Carraroe.

Ladies Lose Connaght Final Replay

Ladies Football Intermediate Connaught Football Final Replay
Annaghdown 3-11 Geevagh 5-07
Luck ran out for the Annaghdown girls today in Tuam when Geevagh held out for victory. Annaghdown's misfortune was helped by 2 penalty misses, one in the first half & one in the second half along missed goal chances also. It was a wonderful year for the girls so hard luck to them & their management.

Minor's Lose Final

County Minor A Football Final
Annaghdown 0-07 St. James 0-13
Annaghdown minors failed at the final hurl today in Pearce Stadium. They came up against a stronger more organised James team in near perfect conditions. St. James lead at the break 6pts to 2pts playing with a strong breeze. They were always in control and only for great defensive play & goal keeping by Brian Lohan the score could have been alot worse. Annaghdown did rally in the second half & closed the gap to 2pts but that was the nearest they came. They put a great effort in all year along with their management of Kevin Scully, Tom O'Dowd & PJ Fallon.
Team was: Brian Lohan, Noel Burke, John King, Patrick Burke, Ian O'Dowd, Mathias Coleman(1 ,45 free), Daniel Denegan(1pt), Wesley Fallon, Martin Scully, Padraic Niland(2pts), Stephen Kerr, Joseph Farragher(1pt), Niall Farragher(1 free), Brian O'Dowd & Aidan Burke(1pt).
Subs used: Enda Mullarkey & Jason Moylan.

Senior League Draw in Cregg.

Senior League Football Div. 1B
Annaghdow 1-08 Michael Breathneachs 0-11
Annaghdown were lucky to get a draw out of this home tie. With no game played since August, it really showed as we shot 18 wides, 11 of these in the first half. Breathneachs led 6-4 @ the break. Second have the men from the west really put it up to Annaghdown leading by 4pts a one stage but Annaghdown dug deep & were happy with the out come. We wish Fergal Doherty a speedy recovery after he was knocked out cold from a heavy & late challenge that went unpunished.
Team was: Padraic Mannion, Martin O'Neill, Adrian Fitzpatrick, Alan Kavanagh, Brian Qualter, Paul Creaven, Fergal O'Doherty, Niall Coleman, Kevin Keane(1pt), Michael Melia, Cathal Gaffney, Damien Burke(4 frees), Padjoe Fahy(1pt), Michael Newell & Frankie Burke(1-2). Subs Used: Brendan Dooley, Ronan Leonard, Anthony Pender & Johnny Murphy.
