Early Xmas Present For The Junior A's...

North Board Junior A Football Final
Annaghdown 1-05 Caherlistrane 0-05
For a second weekend in a row an Annaghdown Junior team collected their second peice of silver ware. In decent weather conditions but on a sticky pitch Annaghdown did the business today in Tuam Stadium. It wasn't pretty stuff but a bit more fitness on the Annaghdown side ensured a good win over our near neighbours who are current County Champions in this grade.
Team was: Padraic O'Neill, Noel Burke, Alan Curry, Dermot Naughton, Patrick Burke, Cathal Gaffney, Paul Scully, Alan Newell(Capt.)(1pt), Shane Kavanagh, John King, Padjoe Fahy(1 free), Ger Rafftrey(2pts - 1 free), Liam O'Flynn(1 goal), Vinnie Small & Aidan Burke. Subs used: Enda Mullarkey, Daniel Denegan, Johnny Murphy(1pt) & Christy Burke.

Senior F/ballers Relegated to Div 1B

Senior Football League Final Round
Carraroe 0-09 Annaghdown 0-03
In what was a disgrace of a game, played in absolute brutal conditions. How this game went ahead was a joke. Nobody wants to play or even watch this kind of stuff and serious questions must be asked of the County Board playing these important games so late in the year. With the Carraroe pitch water logged along with heavy rain and gael force winds all credit must go to both teams in trying to survive the conditions not alone try and play football.
Annaghdown played against the elements in the first half but a more physical Carraroe went in at half time leading 3pts to no score. The second half had a bright start for Carraore who went 9pts to no score up after 45mins of play. Annaghdown with the lighter forwards just could not make head way and 3 late frees was all they could get. So its Division 1B in the league next year.
Team was: Padraic Mannion, Noel Burke, Adrian Fitzpatrick, Benny Newell, Daniel Denegan, Mathias Coleman, Niall Coleman, Wesley Fallon, Mike Melia, Kevin Keane(Capt.), Brian Qualter, Damien Burke(2 frees), Frankie Burke & Padjoe Fahy( 1 free).Subs used: Morgan Duggan, Aidan Burke, Ian O'Dowd, Enda Mullarkey & Ger Rafftrey.
