Annaghdown 1-12 Monivea-Abbey 0-14
Annaghdown recored they first league victory of this year to move them on to 5pts out of a possible 8pts in their group. This game wasn't for the faint hearted but credit to Frankie Burke for shooting the winner under huge pressure. Annaghdown started the game in a good pace with Anthony Pender spliting the posts early but had to retire with an ankle injury straight after the score. Niall Coleman crashed home a great goal to move Annaghdown in a good position but Abbey kept plugging away to finish the half only 2pts behind. Half time score was Annaghdown 1-07 Monivea Abbey 0-08. Abbey started the second half brightest and it took Annaghdown's two corner backs to race up the field ending with a good point from Benny Newell. Championship Defeats!

Senior Football Championship
Annaghdown 1-10 Cortoon Shamrocks 1-12
Not a good start to the championship campaign this year when Cortoon who had the better set of forwards on display were lucky to hold out for victory. Annaghdown got of to a brutal start when a misplaced pass ended up in the Annaghdown net after 5mins of play. Cortoon got great confidence from this and lead @ half time 1-5 to 4pts. The second half started like the first and Cortoon added to 2 more points. Midway through the second half Cortoon lead by 7pts but a Wesley Fallon goal got the Annaghdown fire and passion going and they pulled it back to a 1pt game but just couldn't get the equaliser instead Cortoon got the all important point to end the game as victors.

Intermediate Football Championship
Annaghdown 1-10 Oughteryard 2-09
A great performance from the Annaghdown second team gave a good scare to the most fancied Oughterard. A few lucky breaks went Oughterards way which was the difference between these 2 sides today in Monivea. Oughterard played with the big wind and found it hard to get going against a tigerish Annaghdown side. A few goal chances didn't come of for Annaghdown and a mishit free which broke kindly for Ougherard ended up in the Annaghdown net to give them a vital lead. Oughterard lead @ half time 1-5 to 3pts. Annaghdown had alot of poccession in the second half but alot of wides were costly and again Oughterard got a vital goal against the run of play. Annaghdown like the evening before kept plugging away and a late goal left a point between the sides. There was only time for one more play and Oughterard won poccession and scored the vital score to leave them victors.

Annaghdown 1-11 Athenry 1-09
A nail bitter in Loughrea on Sunday evening saw Annaghdown hold out for a good victory. Annaghdown were up against a very solid Athenry outfit but took control midway in the first half when a brilliant Cathal Gaffney run ended with the in form full forward Carl Leonard hitting the net for a tonic goal. Just before the break Athenry hit the net for a vital goal to leave it all square @ half time. Annaghdown 1-5 Athenry 1-5. The second half was very tight and with Man Of The Match Mikey Forde in goals Athenry found it hard to break the Annaghdown regaurd. Mathias Coleman and Cathal Gaffney got the vital points at the end to ensure another 2pts for Annaghdown but Athenry could have stole it only for Forde in goals to block two close in frees for Athenry.

Junior Hurling Championship

Junior B Hurling Championship
Rahoon-Newcastle 2-14 Annaghdown2-08
Defeat for Annaghdown Juniors back in Toonabrookey on Tuesday night. Missed goal oppertunities for Annaghdown and goals scored by Rahoon at vital stages was the difference tonight. Annaghdown found it very hard to control and sliotar as it was bouncing like a ping pong ball on the hard surface. Annaghdown played with the big wind in the first half but didn't use it to their advantage instead a goal from a mis hit free before the break gave Rahoon the advantage. Annaghdown battled hard in the second hal but Rahoon used the wind to score some nice points. A goal with 2mins to go sealed the game for Rahoon.

Mighty Win For Hurlers

Intermediate Hurling Championship
Annaghdown 3-19 Tynagh Abbey Duniry 0-13
A super team display from Annaghdown in Clarinbridge on Saturday ensured their best performance to date in the intermediate grade. Tynagh Abbey Duniry scored the first point of the game but that was to be their only time to be in front. Once Con Butler stroked over 2 excellent frees Annaghdown were on a roll. Every line of the team was hungrier and more determined with the forwards on song. Ronnie Leonard hit some excellent points from play just before half time to leave 7pts between the sides. Half time score was Annaghdown 1-9 Tynagh Abbey Duniry 0-5. On the resumption Tynagh Abbey Duniry fired over 2 quick points but Carl Leonard then caught a great ball out of the clouds to break free and hit the onion bag. Later on he caught another high ball and laid it of to Adrian Murphy bury to the net to sink the final nial in the coffin for an out of sorts Tynagh Abbey Duniry. The whole team was a credit to the shirt and on a perfect evening for hurling the Annaghdown faithfull went home a happy clan!
