The sun shone for the Easter Hurling Camp attended by the Milwawkee Hurling Club and a number of press photographers from the Connacht Tribune, Irish Examiner as well as TG4. The TG4 piece will be available on http://www.tg4.ie/Bearla/nuac/nuac.htm just select Thursdays Nuacht(12 April 07) and forward the clip to around 23mins. A big thanks to Joe Canning who demonstrated hurling skills and gave some very good tips to our future players. He also presented the medals to the 2006 U12, U14 and U16 winning teams. There were also speeches, presentations and refreshments. We had a number of our own photographers plus loads of our Milwaukee friends had cameras so we will surely see more pictures on both websites over the next few weeks.

Junior A football League on Friday against St Gabriels in Kilconnell at 7.00pm.
Junior C Football League Annaghdown play Calta away at 4.00pm tomorrow Saturday while the Senior Footballers play Claregalway also away in the Sweeney Oil League at 6.00pm.

There will be a Junior Hurling league game on Tuesday next against Sylane in Sylane at 7.00pm.

U14 Ladies beat Caherlistrane on Wednesday evening.

Minor Footballers lost to Tuam by 2 points in the League also on Wednesday evening.

Under Age Hurling

U8 and U10 indoor hurling has finished. We will be training on Saturdays and Wednesdays from now on in Cregg. Wednesdays will be at 6.30pm while we will be training at 10.30am on Saturday morning. Once a month we will be training on a Sunday with the first Sunday session on Sunday week April 22nd. This Saturday however we are asking all Under 8 and U10 players to turn up from 12.30pm to 1.30pm to coincide with the Killeagh visit.

Cork side Killeagh GAA Clubs under 12 and U14 Hurlers will visit Annaghdown tomorrow (Saturday April 14 th) to play our local teams from that age group. The y will be staying with us for the night before returning to Cork on the Sunday morning. We are looking for parents of Annaghdown children to put up the Cork kids and parents for the night. This is a bi-annual event as we travel to Cork and do the same on alternative years. Only children of 10 and over travel on the away trips and the next one will take place sometime in 2008. We are looking for parents to feed the Cork Children on the Saturday evening, look after them on Saturday night and give them breakfast on Sunday morning. The children will be leaving after 9.00am mass in Corrandulla on Sunday morning.

If you can accommodate some children or adults please contact the below as soon as possible. We insist that the children stay in 2's or 3's. At the moment we are looking for 20 families to take 2's and 3 families to take 3's and for accommodation for 12 adults. As in past years when there are too many takers we would arrange that one Annaghdown family would accommodate the two children and a neighbouring Annaghdown child could visit the house to play. U14 girls play Caherlistrane

After the Easter Hurling Camp on Wednesday, our U14 ladies played Caherlistrane in the League at Cregg. I couldn't stay until the end but it seemed to be a well balanced match with good scores on both sides. The Annaghdown forwards did seem to have an edge.

Took a team photo and a few pictures of the Annaghdown forwards in action.

The sun shone for the Easter Hurling Camp attended by the Milwawkee Hurling Club and a number of press photographers so hopefully we will see good press coverage.

Played Easter Sunday in Cregg, Corofin gave a lesson to Annaghdown in cute off the ball attacking football. At half time Corofin lead 1-10 to Annaghdown's 1-4. A lot of lessons to be learnt from the County Champions...

Four goals in the first half by Cappa sent them on their way to victory in Cregg on Saturday. Annaghdown put up a good score & better 2nd half performance so the alot of positives to be taken for championship in a months time.

Played in Coolarne this morning in perfect conditions for a change Annaghdown were victorious after a bruiser of a contest.

Played in Cregg on Sunday evening Annaghdown grabbed a late goal by Joseph Farragher in the last minute for them to earn a draw.

Congrats to Annaghdown's Frankie Burke on scoring a personal tally of 2-6 from play today in Ballinasloe. Galway now meet All-Ireland Champions Mayo next Saturday in Pearse Stadium.

Junior C Hurling League
Annaghdown 0-08 Ballygar 1-06
Played on Monday in Cregg this was the first outting for the Junior C's and it showed as the striking was very poor in front of the goals! Ballygar lead @ the break 1-4 to 6pts and held that lead of one point till the finish. Alot of frees were missed by Annaghdown thus only one free was scored. The positive was that 7pts were scored from play in brutal conditions.

2006 1B Football League Final
Annaghdown 1-07 Miltown 0-08
Played in brutal conditions in Tuam Stadium this afternoon Annaghdown Senior Footballers recorded there first Final victory since 2001. The pitch was heavy with all the down pours and the winds were gael force added to by snow & hail stones. Miltown played with the elements in the first half but Frankie Burke drew first blood with a well finished goal after the Miltown goalie failed to collect a Brendan Dooley shot. Mike Melia & Anthoney Pender scored good points from play to leave the sides level coming up to the break but a Damien Burke free a minute before the break left Annaghdown in a great position @ the break leading by a point. Annaghdown 1-3 Miltown 5pts. Mike Newell scored the first point of the second half after 30 seconds and then added another 10mins later when the Miltown goalie misplaced a pass! Frankie Burke scored another quality point to leave a goal between the sides with 10mins to go. Mike Newell then kicked a savage free from 50 yards to leave us 4pts ahead but a few dodgy frees to Miltown near the end had the fans on their toes! Great display by all the team and congrats to the management of Matt Duggan, Mick Curley, Gerry Forde, Vinnie Small & Gerry Coen. Best wishes to Niall Coleman on a speedy return to fitness after he was injured 10 mins into the 2nd half with a bad shoulder injury. Its an a/c joint injury which will take him over a month to recover from.
